Nutritious Foods are your First Defense against Pain

You are what you eat!
Your body has the ability to heal itself if you feed it the proper nutrition. Proper nutrition fights inflammation (rather than creating it, like processed food sources) making it your first step to eliminating pain. Over-the-counter pain pills only mask the problem which, in some circumstances, make the problem worse and overuse of these medications can cause stomach bleeding, liver damage, kidney disease, and other issues.*

Foods typically are either Anti-inflammatory (good) or Pro-inflammatory (bad)
Anti-inflammatory foods (Omega-3s) have nutrients that can help relieve pain caused by inflammation. Omega-3 fats play a role in altering the inflammatory process and regulation of pain.

Good sources of Omega-3 fats:
  • Salmon
  • Tuna
  • Trout
  • Mackerel
  • Herring
  • Soy-based foods
  • Walnuts
  • Pecans
  • Ground flaxseed

Pro-inflammatory foods (Omega-6s) contribute to inflammation. Inflammation causes swelling and pain in the affected part of the body.
  • Most processed foods
  • Saturated fats
  • Trans-fats
  • Preservatives
  • Refined carbohydrates
  • Deep-fried foods
  • Pastries
  • Processed cereals
  • White rice
  • White potatoes
  • Refined sugar
  • Breads
  • Red meat
